Yesterday (Saturday) we went to the state fair to watch Madison and Megan perform with their gym classes. Madison has a fancy hairdo this year- it takes me about 30 minutes to fix. They also have a very specific way of putting on the makeup so that takes another 15 minutes. I was just glad that the performance was at 1pm instead of early in the morning. This year we found the free park and ride lot to go into the fair- that made it so much easier and free. We also got to the ticket booth and they said we only had to buy Ben's ticket ($6), so I was very happy with the cost of the fair this year. We got to the fair about 1 hour early so we walked around the indoor craft/cooking displays. Maybe we should enter a display next year, it didn't look too hard. Madison and Megan did get in their dances and tumbling. Megan was the best in her class, of course, and the other girls followed what she did. Madison was able to do her ariel (no hands cartwheel) and other tumbling. She is becoming really good at doing the tricks. We had fun watching them while sitting in 95 degree weather, but we were glad when it was over. The kids wanted to see the giant pig and gator. They were amazed at the sizes of those things. When it was time to go we walked outside just as our bus was pulling up- perfect. I am looking forward already to the fair next year, now that I know the kids each get 3 free rides for reading books. So next year will be even better.

We've not been to the fair in years, we'll have to catch their next performance!
