Christmas

The best day of the year. I woke up on and off through the night, each time checking my cell phone for the time. Finally at 5am I stayed awake just laying in my nice, warm bed. By 6am I grew tired of telling Scott to stop snoring and got out of bed and turned on 'Christmas Story'. A few minutes later Madison joined me on the floor. Just before 7am we woke up Ben, Megan, and Blake to get ready to head downstairs. Scott remained in bed for as long as he could, but once my Dad started taking pictures of Scott trying to sleep he quickly hopped out of bed. Luckily Santa came to our house this year, a few times we questioned if he would stop but he showed up. The kids loved everything they received. Megan shed a few tears over items not received, but she quickly recovered.

A few of the gifts:

Scott: photoshop, Suns hat, camera bag, books, and a tool

Amy: netbook, popcorn popper, kitchen accessories

Madison: clothes, pedicure set, I-tunes gift card, build-a-bear

Ben: legos, erector set, tennis racket and balls

Megan: converse shoes, build-a-bear, pug webkin,

Blake: cars, trains, bike, and a tool bench

Everyone: tetherball set and wii games

It was a great Christmas morning. At 10am we went to Scott's parents house to wish them Merry Christmas and received a few more really nice gifts and had a waffle breakfast. After a short visit we headed back home to finish preparing dinner for 25 people. My Mom was busy making rolls when I got home. The night before we had already made pretzel salad, funeral potatoes, and chocolate eclair so the prep work was a little easier. We made both turkey and ham for dinner. After a little after-dinner discussion we decided that no one really loved ham, so next year we will do a roast with turkey instead.

Even with having 25 people over for dinner we had a ton of left-overs. I sent some home with Tiffany and Emily and still had enough to fill my fridge. I guess that is what we will be eating for the next week. Now that all the presents are un-wrapped and family is gone I have time to think what a great day we had. Everyone is happy, healthy, and home- what can be better?
