Hardwater Woes

We thought our dishwasher had broken this week. Last week I started putting some vinegar in with the dishes, and then we really cleaned our dishwasher by running it with bleach and then vinegar. Well, it turns out that if you don't clean your dishwasher regularly when you do clean it- it may surprise you. It turns out that by cleaning the dishwasher it dislodged some calcium and lime deposits here and there. On Wednesday I opened up my dishwasher to find that there was calcium and lime deposits every where. It looked like my soap dispenser had exploded and multiplied. Scott took apart the dishwasher and we found 4 years worth of calcium and lime deposits stuck everywhere. In some places it was 1 inch thick. No wonder our water wasn't working in the dishwasher, and the rotators were sticking. We cleaned everything off and reassembled and now our dishwasher runs like new. Morale- clean your dishwasher regularly.
