Hot Summer Days

I think this week takes a record or something for how hot it is. I will go outside and get the newspaper at 6 in the morning- and it is still hot outside. I know that at 9:30am when I take the kids to swimming lessons it is almost 100 degrees. Everyone keeps saying that the monsoons are coming and will bring cooler weather, but when?? Madison, Ben, and Megan started a new session of swimming lessons on Monday. I let Madison know that she was not allowed to tell her teacher "no", so this session is a little more productive for her. Yesterday she swam across the pool by herself. Something that she wouldn't do a week ago. Ben is also improving. As he swims he is pulling his arms out of the water. Megan is still a little fish, not really caring that the water goes up to her mouth.

We signed up for the summer reading program last Saturday (6 days ago) and Madison has already read the amount needed to get the top prize. Ben is not too far behind her, and Megan has another 12 books to go. They have received IMAX tickets and zoo tickets so far. Madison was finished in the first 4 days. She is such a reader.

We cleaned the carpets this week. It is always pretty gross to see what we have been walking on and sitting on during the past year. The water was pretty dark. Our area rug was so dirty that you could see where the furniture went. It took 5 times to have the water for the area rug come clear- and the rug still looked a little dirty. Scott and I decided that we should clean the carpets more often.

On Thursday Scott's sister Melinda came over with her 4 kids: Jake, Juliette, Jolie, and Savannah. We spent the afternoon swimming in the Robb's pool and having a bbq for dinner. The kids enjoyed playing with each other. They organized a little show after dinner that was pretty funny.

Today we spent the morning at the movie theater watching Evan Almighty. I was a little apprehensive since I really didn't like the premise of Bruce Almighty. But this one was very family friendly and instead of playing God Evan played modern day Noah. I laughed a lot. We also found out this week that Tiffany is pregnant with her third baby and due after the new year. Cross your fingers and hope for a boy!
