Heading Home

We (Scott G, Jen, Grace, Madison, Ben, Megan, and Myself) began our drive back home early Monday morning. Other then a little heavy rain the drive was uneventful. We decided that since we would be so close to Winter Quarters, Nebraska that we would stop and see the visitors center there. I am so glad that we did because it was the best center we had been in. Besides having nice bathrooms (no need to lay the nest) the kids had fun directing the Tabernacle Choir, packing a wagon with supplies, watching a movie, putting on pioneer clothing, going inside a log cabin, pulling a handcart, and laying on a ship's bed. We had a great time- so much so that Madison says she wants to live in Nebraska when she is older. The kids looked so cute in their clothes but by the end of the tour the younger kids had taken off most of the outfit. We were able to go inside a log cabin that would have been the right size for the 1840's. It was about 12x12 and was made to fit 12 people. Then they were told that a tiny bed (2x5) would hold 5 passengers on a ship sailing from Europe to America. Makes me appreciate my king sized bed a lot more.

The Winter Quarters temple was just across the street, but since it was Monday the gate was locked so we couldn't get very close. The also have a cemetery but we didn't go there either.

After our lengthy stop we continued on our drive to Denver. We made it to Scott and Jen's around 7:30pm and by the time we ate and played a few games we went to bed around 11pm so we would be able to get up at 3am. Our flight to Phoenix was for 5:30am and we made it to the airport 75 minutes early. I was expecting very few passengers to be at the airport that early, but the security line was very long. We got to our gate just as they were loading our plane. We landed back in Phoenix at 6am- nice and early to get an early head start on laundry. Blake was very happy to have everyone back home.

That is so neat! I am glad you were able to stop at Winter's Quarters and that everyone is home safe and that Blake remembered everyone and was glad to have you home! (I'm sure Scott was too :)!)

Your talks were wonderful! Neither one of you seemed nervous and Amy you spoke very well not too fast - you all are very good with talks and I thought Brandon's piece really fit in nice with the subject!
