Easter Egg Hunt

This morning was our ward's Easter egg hunt. All week the weather channel said we would have rain on Saturday. But how often do their rain predictions come true- not very. Unfortunately, the predictions were true and the first few hours of the morning we had a good amount of rain. We got a call an hour before the hunt and were told that the hunt was still on. Now- our ward collected over 600 eggs to hide for the kids, so I knew that since fewer people would come out we would really score with the candy. So that is how we found ourselves outside in the rain for an Easter egg hunt. How often does that happen in Arizona?

The kids had a great time collecting eggs and they all seemed to get a bunch. We even had enough to give a couple eggs to some friends who were not as focused on hunting for eggs. I thought Blake did really well running for the eggs and quickly gathering them into his bucket.

After the hunt we huddled under the small ramada and had a great breakfast of donuts, cinnamon rolls, and other sweets. I am predicting the kids will be on a slight sugar high the rest of the weekend.

On another note- Ben is really beginning to remind me of myself. We have been having a problem with a dessert rat lately. To test my theory I left out 2 cookies on a plate. Sure enough, the dessert rat struck and a few hours later my cookies were missing. My theory was Ben was my dessert rat. I went upstairs to his room and asked Ben if he ate the cookies. "Nope" he said. I looked at him for awhile, and sure enough Ben started smiling (I can't lie without smiling either- good thing we aren't poker players). I said 'I see cookie crumbs on your face, did you eat my cookies?' Finally he admitted to eating the cookies. Leaving sweets is too much of a temptation for chocolate lovers like Ben and I. The girls never even thought about taking the cookies. Must be nice to have will power.

Pretty cool for Arizona! Looks like the rain dampened everything but the fun!
