Flagstaff

We drove up to Flagstaff this past Saturday to watch the girls perform at the men's basketball NAU halftime program. We have been looking forward to this trip and the opportunity to play in the snow for the past few weeks. Blake was so excited to see snow. Not sure where he gets all his ideas, but he has been saying that he needed to buy skates for the snow. I found a great deal at the Ramada- $25 rooms! We got up to Flagstaff around 3pm. The drive was uneventful until we were about 30 miles out of Flagstaff where we hit snow and fog. Glad I wasn't driving. The hotel was nice, and we decided that it would be Megan, Blake, and I on one bed; Scott and Ben sharing a bed, and Madison on the floor on a mattress. After I slept horribly we decided that next time we found rooms for $25 we would buy 2 rooms so I wouldn't have to share my bed with 2 other people.

While I got the girls ready for the show, Scott took the boys outside to walk around and play in the snow. Blake and Ben had a great time throwing soft snowballs at each other. They didn't stay outside very long though, since it was only 29 degrees outside. It has been a very long time since I have been that cold!

The NAU game was a lot of fun, we are huge fans of basketball in our family so we always like watching a live game. After the halftime show, everyone was ready to eat dinner (at 8pm). Dale recommended a place called Galaxy on route 66 and Scott thought that the kids would enjoy eating on route 66 so that is where we went. Very similar to 5 and diner. We didn't realize that Saturday night is Swing Night and there were several couples dancing their dinner off on the floor. The bathrooms were just past the diners, so we enjoyed dodging the swinging when heading to the bathroom.

Sunday morning we woke up and drove to the observation building and played in the freshly falling snow. The kids made it about an hour before getting too cold. We did pretty good for only being in jeans and tennis shoes. Might have lasted longer if we had some snow gear. It is good that we left when we did, it continued snowing the rest of the day, so glad we didn't get stuck in the snow. It was a fun trip, way too much laundry for only being gone a day, but lots of fun. Hopefully there will be snow next week when we go to Jen's.
