Madison's birthday is finally here!! I say finally, because she has been counting down for a month. We had Grammy and Grandpa, and Emily's family over for dessert on Sunday. On Tuesday, Blake and I picked her up from school and went to Wendy's for lunch (still got a kids meal). Today (Wednesday), we are heading over to Costco for dinner then back home for dessert and presents. Madison counted her shirts last week and came and told me that she has over 40 shirts. Right then and there I crossed new clothes off her birthday list, but she still asked me yesterday if she would be getting any new clothes to wear for school. Sorry, but no.
Being in the sixth grade has been a big adjustment for Madison. We have gone from maybe having a weekly homework packet, to having 1-2 hours of homework each evening. She is also struggling with studying for a test- rather then just doing the required homework. I am sure by the end of the year we will have it all figured out so we are prepared for Jr. High. Madison has been taking salads for lunch at school. Don't know where that came from, but since she makes it herself I can't complain. She still takes piano lessons, violin lessons at school, tumbling, and wants to learn how to sew. She is loving having her own bedroom and for the most part keeps it clean. I measured her this morning and she gew 4 inches this past year- about 2.5inches came from just this summer. She is back to being taller then Ben again, those two tend to trade off the tallest kid award.
One of the best things about Madison is that she will play with kids of any age. She is happy playing with Blake, Megan, or kids her own age. We have started leaving her at home for an hour or so during the day. Usually when I am gone she will call my cell phone 3-4 times to ask about something, or wonder when I am coming back- but it is nice that she is getting old enough to watch the kids.
We are glad to have Madison in our family- not sure if we could survive as well without her.
