Whirlwind Trip

Grandma Wynn/Fresh's funeral was yesterday in Emmett, ID. Tiffany and I flew up early Wednesday morning so we could be there for the viewing Wednesday night. We were waiting for our plane to board when up walked our cousins Dustin and Kim. Small world- even though we booked on different flight websites we ended up choosing the same times and airlines. Tiffany and I were sitting by each other, but not next to each other. I was the lucky one to sit next to a semi-hysterical women who also gets anxious about flights- but makes it well known. I was able to enjoy her swearing and talking about how horrible the flight was all the way to Denver. Not the best thing since I also have flight anxiety. When we landed in Denver we walked to our next gate which happened to be in the basement (I thought it was an old bomb shelter). I have never gotten the opportunity to walk out onto the tarmac to board the plane so that was interesting. All of our flights were small- they said the flight from Denver to Boise had about 60 people on it. We spent the flight riding through the clouds and turbulence, so I was glad when we landed.

After we landed we quickly went to the hotel and changed into nicer clothes for the viewing. The viewing had a great turn out of lots of my cousins that I hadn't seen for a few years. Grandma had some lovely flowers surrounding the casket, and I think she would have liked that. She really didn't look like herself, which is a little better because I could distance myself from thinking that was her. After the viewing we went to a drive-in restaurant- RoAnn's- which is always a family tradition.

Thursday morning was the funeral in the Emmett church building. This particular building had an upstairs and that was fun to go and look around. I have never seen a church with this floorplan. We had family prayer and then went into the chapel for the funeral. My Aunts and Uncle's gave great talks about Grandma, and there was pretty music. Jennifer played 'Ye Elder's of Isreal' while my uncle Boyd and Dad sang. I could just see my Grandma sitting there tapping her foot to that song.

After the funeral we had a family lunch and then took family pictures and headed back to the airport for the trip home.

Canned green beans from 1950- my Great Grandma did these. Look at the even lining up of the beans.

We would walk down to this store almost every day when we visited Grandma and buy Golden Peach Diet Rite- do they make that anymore?

The house my Mom grew up in. Her bedroom was the top window.
