I am finished with Med/Surg!!!(at least for the rest of the semester). Saturday was our first day in the Psych Hospital. One nice thing is the county hospital is in Mesa so it only took 20 minutes to get there- I was able to sleep in until 5am. I was excited to be there, until we had orientation about not letting the patients box you in or get to close. After that we were all pretty much afraid of patients getting to close. I had to back up several times, and once told someone that they needed to move away. I attended a behavioral health class, and the instructor was from Africa. I couldn't understand a word he was saying, so I am sure no one else did either. We had fun at kareoke hour and then I made a patient a Phoenix College badge. He wanted to be a nursing student for Halloween- besides he had quit the FBI that morning and was looking for a new career. I saw patients having hallucinations, delusions, and illusions (these are all different, and I am well aware of how since I missed that question on a test). A patient tried to escape through the ceiling while I was there, and someone was tied down. All in all, an interesting day- and the staff said that it was a slower day then normal.
Sunday we went to conference. I enjoyed President Monson's talk about living today and not always planning the tomorrows. It is interesting how there is usually one talk geared to something I am having trouble with. No different this year, I think the first talk on Sunday regarding not speaking ill of others is something I need to work on. I generally don't have issues with this, but there is someone who bothers me that I have problems with. I need to work on that.
I have found a new hobby: headbands. The girls are starting to prefer headbands rather then bows so I went onto EBAY and saw woven ribbon headbands and decided I could make them for myself. I think I did pretty good. I have finished about 5, and just need to get more ribbon to make more. The first headband took 25 minutes, but I can now finish in under 5. Not bad.

Bless you on your courage for the physc hospital! The headbands look really cute!
Amy, you're so cute - it is pretty sad that when you see something about roaches you think of me. Thanks for the tip - I'll have to try it! Congrats on school - you're getting closer to being done!
