Halloween

We had a very busy weekend, and that didn't end on Sunday. After church I went through the Halloween candy with the kids. They each picked out 5 pieces of candy to save for themselves, then we put the candy bars in one pile and the rest into another. The candy bars we will save so the kids can take one in their lunch each day. The other candy was handed out to trick or treaters tonight.

I thought it would be fun to make caramel apples this year. The kids had a great time decorating the apple, they didn't enjoy getting some hot caramel on their hands while they were dipped. Ben complained that his fingernail felt like it was burning off. They should just wait until they get a burn from a hot glue gun. Can't compare.

For dinner we made spooky face pancakes. I am not sure that I have ever seen so much candy on a pancake before, and then they poured syrup on top. Just looking at the pancakes made me feel a little sugared out. Luckily, this is a once a year sugar fest I don't think we could handle this past weekend of sweets more then that.

After dinner the kids dressed up and we headed outside to sit and hand out candy to the neighborhood trick or treaters. Not sure how many times the kids switched costumes, but if I had to guess I think everyone changed at least two times. Within an hour we were out of candy so we headed in to clean up and get ready for bed. Blake asked if he could have another sucker- no way. Halloween just ended and I am already tired of seeing all the candy.
