Yesterday and today was the Father and Sons Campout. The boys, especially Blake, were so excited to go. Blake couldn't stop talking about it in the days leading up to it. This year we got some new fun toys to take with us: a bb-gun, air-soft pistol, and a sling shot. They were a big hit. Blake called the sling shot the "Angry Birds shooter" just like his favorite game. We had a blast shooting and taking target practice. Ben is really starting to get a lot better with using and shooting a rifle, it is becoming more natural for him which is great so that he doesn't have to rely on me as much.

After a 2 year hiatus, we carpool up with the Craig's. Blake got car sick on the way back and threw up so we'll see if we're invited back. The location was near Top of the World, AZ and while not our favorite place, it is only an hour's drive. The boys didn't seem to mind one bit so it all worked out. For dinner, we went old school and got Wendy's. After years of bringing up stuff to cook and stuff to cook on, I decided to keep it simple and give us more time to just relax and have fun. It was a great call.
Ben had a great time shooting and going all over he place with his friends. It's great for him to have that freedom and go off and be boys. I'm not quite ready for Blake to do that (and he wouldn't really let me out of his site anyway so we hung out a lot together and had a great time hiking, roasting marshmallows, and seeing what everyone else was up to (and staying away from caterpillars which he made clear he was afraid of).

Another new thing for this year was I stuck to boys in the tent by themselves while I slept outside. Last year, we all shared a big mattress but every little movement woke me up. So this time I stayed on my own mattress outside and only the cool wind an bright moon that kept me up. It was a little bit better but not much. I guess I need more camping practice! We had a great time overall and look forward to more camping soon. The boys want to practice more shooting. Like I said, it was a hit.
