Blake Turns 5!

We started counting down the days to Blake's birthday 99 days ago. Not because Blake wanted to start the countdown at 100 days, but because I didn't want to start the countdown at 365 days. Blake did an awesome job of counting backwards. Each morning when he would wake up he would give us the new number of days. For awhile he thought that when he turned 5 he would immediately start kindergarten. After a few times of explaining that he would stay in preschool another year, he started to understand.

I take the kids out to lunch for their birthday. Blake just wanted a bowl of Count Chocula cereal that he has been seeing in the store- easy enough. For his birthday dinner he wanted: pizza, cheese balls, carrots, cake and ice cream. I made him a pumpkin shaped cake and he wanted his favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Blake's face is full of expression so it was fun to watch him open up his presents and see what was inside. Scott made him a table to build his lego's on, the kids all bought him legos, a video game, new hot wheels, and another big lego set. Ben kept assuring Blake that he would be glad to help him build all his new legos.

Blake is starting to read already and knows most of the sight words. He is very smart and loves to go to school and church. He loves playing with Macy and tries to read her books. His favorite food is pizza, but his favorite snacks are pears, peaches, and apples. He is really looking forward to his first birthday party this Saturday.
