Vacation- Day 1-2

We left Phoenix about 3:30pm when it was 122 degrees outside.  It was hot- but we knew that we were heading to cooler temperatures, so we were excited about that.  We made it to Las Vegas, NV around 9:30pm that night and headed straight to bed.
Started driving around 8:30 in the morning and made it to our first stop in St. George, UT around 10am.  We stopped at Swig- a drink place.  Everyone chose a drink
Macy- sprite and peach
Blake- chocolate and root beer- tasted like a tootsie pop
Megan- orange and cherry
Ben- root beer and vanilla
Madison- cherry limeaide
Scott- dirty mountain dew
All the drinks were pretty good- I got a sugar cookie which was pretty good.
The drive was pretty uneventful and we made it to Lava Hot Springs, ID around 4pm.  We hurried to our hotel and everyone changed into their swim suits so we could go tubing down the Portneuf river.  Aside from me losing my flip flop, tubing was a lot of fun.  The water was pretty cool, so it was pretty shocking with each splash.  We then went to the town swimming pool.  The older kids had fun on the slides and high dives, Blake and Macy stayed in the swimming pool.
After we got bored with swimming we headed back to the hotel to change for dinner.  We walked to a pizza place but the wait was really long, so we went to a little diner across the street.  While we waited 1 hour for our food (restaurant was basically empty) the weather changed and brought up a good rain storm.  It was still raining when we finished eating so the manager offered to drive Scott to the hotel and pick up our car.  That kind of made up for the very slow food service.
Once the rain stopped we walked across the street and went to the Lava Hot Spring pools.  We had fun testing out the various pools and different temperatures from 101-112 degrees.  We got back to the hotel just before 11pm and headed for bed.  It was a little warm in the room since there was no air conditioning, no outlets to plug in a fan, and no screen on the windows to prevent bugs from coming in.  It was pretty muggy in the room, but we managed to get a decent night sleep.
