3 Years Old!!

Today is Blake's third birthday. He has been counting down the days for the past few months. All week we have been planning for his family birthday party: inviting family, buying the cake mold and other food, wrapping his gifts... Unfortunately Friday he came down with a fever of 102 and cough. Last night we canceled his party I think I was more upset about that then he was. We spend the early part of the morning at Urgent Care finding out that he has croup- what a way to celebrate a birthday. Ironically, his cousin in South Carolina also has a birthday today (turning 4) and he also is sick today. What are the odds?

I would like to think all my kids are brilliant, but Blake surprises me daily with how quick he picks things up. He likes to name all the stores and fast food restaurants as we drive by, can name the stores where he has bought his toys- even if the toy is over a year old, and quotes tv/movie lines that he likes. He heard someone say on a show yesterday, 'that is awesome', I heard him repeat it once right after the character said it. Today he saw his cake and said, 'that is awesome'. Funny kid.

Blake loves all things truck, outside anything, and batman. He has been loving having a trampoline, but doesn't understand that it is the family trampoline and not just his.

We have a few goals for Blake this year: 1) Potty Training ( we had this goal last year too), 2) Sleeping in his own room (After we went to the doctor this morning I told him it was time to go back to bed. Blake asked if he was sleeping on the couch, or in 'our' room. Yep, I share my room with Blake. Hearing him say 'our' room makes me realize how hard it will be to break Blake of that habit. Hopefully by the time he goes on a mission he will be permanently in his own room. ), 3) Getting dressed each morning in a different outfit. (he likes to wear the same clothes for 2-3 days straight.)

Hopefully we can accomplish all of those- if not, that is okay too since we all love Blake.
