Trouble Maker

Doesn't he look innocent

Madison, Ben, and Megan are great, sweet kids. They never attempted to play with cleaners, soap, lotion, water.... I thought it was because I have great parenting skills. Call me the 'child whisperer'. Well, a few weeks ago Blake went over to Mia's house and when I went to pick them up Lali said they played with markers on their clothes and her walls. I said that is what happens when you put 2- 2 year olds together and leave markers out. In my head I was blaming Mia for the mess, after all MY kids do not do that kind of thing.

The next time Blake and Mia got together they went into the downstairs closet and opened Scott's drywall mud and covered their hands and arms with it. Again I blamed it on two toddlers, but I was beginning to wonder how much part Blake played in that. Later that day he "helped" clean my floor by spraying Windex everywhere. He also dumped out a bottle of soap on the bathroom rug downstairs. I told him we don't play with cleaners and soap. Naively, I thought since I told him 'no' he would never play with them again.

Tuesday night I put him to bed and went downstairs. 40 minutes later I went back upstairs and went to my bathroom. On the bathroom floor was an empty bottle of mouthwash, empty bottle of soap, empty bottle of body spray, open lotion... Get the idea? Wet spots everywhere on the carpet. As I cleaned it up I was a little upset, but at the same time I was one step closer to getting new tile put in the bathroom. Blake and I had a talk the next morning when he woke up and he said he wouldn't do it again. I believed him, after all he is 2 and very smart.

The next night while I am at scouts, Scott texted me and said that Blake took Madison's bath set and dumped everything out on her bedroom floor. There is now a large pink/red spot on Madison's floor. Nice, one step closer to new carpet.

I am a little tired of cleaning up his messes, but maybe I should be grateful for Blake pushing us closer to new flooring. Maybe I should have him color on the kitchen table or couch. I could use some new furniture.

My kids totally did the dump out every bottle in mom's bathroom thing on the carpet in our closet. It still stinks in there. The worst was 2 weeks ago, soft scrub with bleach on the carpet in our family room and 409 on the piano which damaged the side of the piano. My parenting skills have gone out the window!
