Wickedly Awesome

Earlier this year my Mom bought 2 tickets to see Wicked the Musical. The upside to her buying an extra ticket meant that I would be that extra (Thanks Mom) on Friday night.

FRIDAY

We spent the morning working on the yard. Earlier in the week I put out a piece of paper that listed several 'pay' jobs on it: floor boards, window sills, weeds, cupboards... and the kids signed up for what they wanted. Friday was our work day. Madison got up early and got ready to weed; she came downstairs wearing nice plaid shorts and a new shirt. I took one look and said, 'Um No, go upstairs and put on your sweat shorts, tennis shoes, and an old shirt'. She came back downstairs dressed more appropriately for weeding. She had also recruited my Mom and Dad to help her in her weeding endeavor. With three people working on the weeds they were cleaned up rather quickly. Quickly is a subjective term for my observer role. Those actually weeding might have said sweaty, hard, and dirty. But from my view point in the air-conditioned house, drinking my ice water it was fast and easy.

Actually during that same time I was fighting a war with the billions of ants in my backyard. I took a few hits (bites), lots of casualties, but it is an ongoing battle- one that I won't concede and should see a victory in another week or so.

I am very glad that the kids decided to do the most tedious tasks like window sills and floor boards that way my precious time could be better spent reading my 'House Training for Dummies' book. I am happy to say Brownie doesn't have many accidents when I am around. When Scott watches her it is a different story. Friday night when I was gone she had 4 accidents. Sorry Scott.

After finishing our chores and doing a little shopping my Mom and I headed out to Gammage Auditorium. We made a few stops along the way, and had dinner at Paradise Bakery. I decided to try something new (that never works out for me) and get the roast beef sandwich. Unfortunately, when the sandwich came it was blood red roast beef, and very gross. My Mom let me take some chicken salad off her sandwich and put on mine so it was edible. My Mom is very caring and considerate like that- or maybe it was just her way of apologizing for dropping our 2 cookies on the floor by the soda fountain. Either way, I was able to finish my sandwich.

After dinner we headed to Gammage to find a parking spot- neither one of us could decide where to park so we finally parked in a neighborhood that we had parked in before and since the show was starting in 20 minutes we walked quickly (jogged) to the doors. We found our great seats (row 23) quickly. I was fortunate to sit next to wide, open leg man. His legs were spread open all the way, so they entered my 'personal space'. Rather then do what I would naturally do- hit his leg hard enough with mine to discourage future leg spreading- I said Scott would just ignore it, so that is what I did. Scott is usually nicer then me in situations like that (I don't like uninvited people in my personal space i.e. neighbors cars).

The play was awesome, at times it was so great that I would sing along. Usually I was singing solo. I missed having my sisters and Madison with me to join in the singing. When the play ended my Mom and headed out to the car (gratefully there was no parking ticket on the car) and made it home by 11pm. A wonderful night.

Oh yeah- Scott and my Dad took the kids to a fun filled night at Peter Piper Pizza while we were gone. They had a great time.

It's so nice you can have your mother around occasionally to do all that fun stuff, especially when they treat!
