Sunsplash

Last night we went to Sunsplash with the Craig's and the Kenney's. We had been looking forward to doing this all summer. I hadn't been to Sunsplash for about 12 years, so it was great to go again. I don't have a pair of swim shorts so Scott and I looked the night before at the mall, but I couldn't find any that I liked so I just wore sweat shorts. Once in the park we started by taking the older kids to the tube slides and the younger 3 to the little slides. Blake and Mia didn't really care for the slides, but I thought it was great fun pushing Blake down the slide against his will. The older kids kept the tube slides busy. Once they reached the bottom they would quickly run back up to get in line again. After we had our fill of the tubes we walked over to the body slides. Scott waited with Blake while a lot of us went on the Cyclone- or the "Big Toliet" as we called it. You slide down about 30 feet then land in a toliet like bowl where you circle around before dropping out the bottom into a pool. When we finally made it to the front of the line the attendant asked me if I could swim in 9 feet of water. I replied, "we will find out." She didn't like that answer and asked me again. Yes I can swim in 9 feet of water, otherwise why would I be in this line?? What she should of asked was, "can you swim in 9 foot deep water while buckets of water are poured on top of you?".

Next we went on the slides that you can ride sitting down. I started down my first one, but it wasn't really that fun I kept getting stuck and having to really push myself to go down. Soon I heard Ryan Kenney shouting behind me. He was approaching fast. I started to push myself faster. Ryan then started shouting, "Sister Edwards watch out", so I slid over and let him pass me. Who gets passed on a water slide?? By this time I was laughing so hard because a 4 year old passed me that I swallowed a bunch of water when I finally finished the slide. Since Todd's family owns Sunsplash I asked him for some pointers that would help me go down the slide faster. He said to lay down and put your shoulders back. So the next time up Ryan went ahead of me and when it was my turn I laid down. I went about 15 feet before getting stuck again. I sat back up and started pushing myself down. This time I heard the man behind me yelping away. I didn't want an adult to hit me on the slide so I pushed very fast to get down before him. At the bottom I realized why I was the only one getting stuck: my cotton shorts, they were like Velcro on the slide. Next time I will remember that. Megan, it turns out, is a little dare-devil on the slides. She went on all the slides, even ones I wouldn't go on without any hesitation in her little 40lb body. She loved it all. After the slides we did the lazy river, the wave pool, and the kiddie area. By the end of all that we were wasted and ready to go home.
